As a traditional Black Forest company, nature is particularly important to us. All production steps are constantly optimized with regard to the use of raw materials, air, water and energy as well as the waste materials produced.
We combine ecology with economy in order to secure our location, jobs and natural resources in the long term. A considerate approach to the environment is an integral part of our quality management. This also includes measures such as heat recovery from cooling systems and the use of natural refrigerants.
Tannenhof Schwarzwälder Fleischwaren GmbH & Co KG has been a founding member of BEN (Bürger-Energie-Niedereschach) since April 2010. By using renewable energies and raw materials, the municipality of Niedereschach uses as much self-generated energy as possible. The aim is to jointly reduce CO2 emissions by using the local heat supply from a biogas plant. The long-term goal is to establish an independent local heating and energy network that is supplied by renewable energy and photovoltaic systems.
Tannenhof is doing everything it can as a sustainable company to protect the region and future generations. Here are some examples of our environmentally friendly actions:
Waste water
Several multi-chamber wastewater treatment plants guarantee that the wastewater we produce can be cleaned and returned to the natural cycle. Regular measurements by the Horgen wastewater association confirm the success of our measures.
Exhaust air
Our brick-built smoking towers ensure two factors at once: on the one hand, excellent smoked Black Forest ham. On the other hand, minimal use of fuel (fir wood, pine wood and fir flour) and energy savings. All exhaust air is collected and freed from environmentally harmful aerosols in a special process. The resulting tar is collected and recycled by a specialist company.
Dual system
Packaging should no longer become waste. Tannenhof also participates in the dual system in accordance with § 6 of the Packaging Ordinance. By participating in the dual system "Der Grüne Punkt", we want to make a valuable contribution to climate protection. Active participation in climate and environmental protection is important to us. Continuous recycling is an expression of sustainable management and helps to save energy, resources and emissions.
By participating in the "Der Grüne Punkt" dual system for the recycling of sales packaging, we have been able to reduce greenhouse gases every year and thus make a decisive contribution to climate protection. In 2024, for example, we contributed to saving 23 tons of CO2 equivalents by participating in the dual system "Der Grüne Punkt". Our commitment makes Tannenhof Black Forest ham a pleasure for you and the environment. It simply tastes twice as good.
